Fishing License Requirements

Fishing on the Beach -  Fishing permits are not required for surf fishing.
Correction:
Under Fishing your site states that a fishing license is not required for fishing in the surf.  That is incorrect. The saltwater fishing license requirement was extended to include surf fishing either last year or year before.  Nice site.

Freshwater Fishing (Back Bay) - All you need is a fishing pole and a five-day fishing license to angle in Back Bay or Lake Smith. Temporary licenses can be obtained from the Clerk of the Circuit Court Office, Virginia Beach Municipal Center or several convenient sporting stores. Permits are available at Margie and Ray's located at 1240 Sandbridge Road 757-426-2397.

Saltwater Fishing - Virginia has a saltwater fishing license, which is required for fishing in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers.  There are numerous provisions for "blanket" licenses for private boats, charterboats and piers, as well as exemptions for people under 16 years of age and 65 years and older.
